Why Canine Behaviour Matters….

There are 9.9 million pet dogs in the United Kingdom, and it is inevitable that sometimes our dogs carry out behaviours that we see as being a problem. Our pet’s behaviour is influenced by in the way they are bred, socialized, and trained.

My approach to dealing with behaviour problems in dogs is to help dogs and owners build communication and, using kind, force free methods and scientific knowledge, modify behaviour to create happy, confident dogs and owners.

By teaching our dogs basic skills, we are often able to avoid problem behaviours arising or more easily modify those that do, it’s also a great way to enrich our dog’s lives and build a trusting relationship us and our dogs.

I work with pet dogs and their owners in the North Wales and Chester areas, providing dog behaviour and training consultations, always using positive force-free methods.

Canine Behaviour Management

I hold a BSc(Hons) in Canine Behaviour Management from the University of Hull and I am a member of the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC), a certifying organisation providing evidence-based education and professional development for animal behaviour professionals.

Working with rescue dogs is important to me; I have worked with street dogs in India and with the Galgos del Sol rescue in Spain helping rehabilitate dogs rescued from the streets of Murcia often following mistreatment.

As well as dealing with behaviour problems I am an Expert Witness in legal cases nationally involving dog law, conducting behavioural assessments and breed identification of dogs where owners are facing prosecution.

Dog bites are increasing annually in the UK and education is vital in reducing dog bite incidents. I provide dog bite prevention education for children in schools and community groups using the Dog Stars and I Speak Doggie safety programs. 77% of dog bites involve family or friends dogs and teaching children how to interact safely with dogs can reduce the likelihood of bites occurring.

Working together we can create a happy and safe community for us and our much loved pets.
