Behaviour Problems

Dealing with behaviour problems is more complex than dog training as it is important to understand the reasons why a dog is performing the behaviours in order to be able to change it.

Modifying problems behaviours takes time and requires commitment and consistency from owners, my aim is to make this process as easy and fun as possible for both owners and dogs.

Common behaviour problems include:

• Separation anxiety
• Aggression towards other dogs
• Aggression towards humans
• Guarding of objects or territory
• Obsessive behaviours
• Fears and phobias

A behaviour consultation takes place in the home environment. Following an initial telephone conversation, I attend the home and carry out a thorough assessment of the dog’s behaviour and observe the dog. This important as every family is different and understanding the home situation helps in creating a plan that suits individual lifestyles.

I will then provide some immediate management advice and create a behaviour modification plan tailored to both the dog and family. Further telephone and email support will be provided free of charge, in some cases a follow-up visit may be required. An initial consultation lasts approximately one and a half hours.
